What happens when you need to build a fire, but you forgot your matches and lighter? What if you don't know the fire-plow method, the bow and drill method, or even the flint and steel method (not that you would have flint, because you forgot your lighter)?
Watch this survival video tutorial to learn how to start a campfire with jumper cables and a car battery. To go along with those jumper cables and car battery, you'll also need a plain old wooden pencil and a knife to reach the lead inside.
Carve two notches in the lead pencil, exposing the lead, then hook the red and black lead of the jumper cables to it, and drop it in your tinder brush. Then connect the other ends of the cables to the positive and negative terminals on your car battery and then... flames!

Until you pop your battery.
Cars these days have cigarette lighters in them too duh, plus that's not good on the battery. Also, if you have a car, why not just drive it to the store and buy a lighter or some matches?
kool thing is if your car broke down and your stranded it would work until the battery died.

Absurd... Have any of you even seen a car battery or been anywhere that you could possibly have need to build a fire? I am betting all three of you belive that your food actually comes from a grocery store too.
it takes literally only Seconds to ignite the graphite from a pencil. yeah, graphite...NOT lead - why would lead pencils be used in schools?
it takes far longer to blow up a car battery than to ignite 1/8" of graphite.
As far as running it down? perhaps if you were stranded for like 3 years - long enough for the need to do this thousands yes thousands of times..who packs all those pencils, even if you conserved and broke them into shorter segments.
I have used car batteries to magnetize crowbars....that needs a direct short for FAR longer and will not blow the damn thing up.
If you did somehow manage to blow it up before igniting a tiny piece of grphite. then stand close...coz you really shouls give up and hope that it kills you too you just might be too stupid to continue with life. Lucky you...breathing is involuntary..
